SAMPLE LETTERS - So you are interested in writing to Governor Bush,  Representative Sorenesen, Representative Bullard? Below we have placed two sample letters to give you some direction. Please feel free to use all of the text or cater it to include your concerns and thoughts. For all the parents and guardians helping their kids understand and voice their opinion, a simple "please vote no to de-designation, we love our home" will surely get the point across. The point is, though, that we speak up. Whether it is an intricate letter or a simplistic plea for keeping the home that we love, it all counts. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to help preserve what we all love so dearly, the Florida Keys and its pristine, untouched beauty.


For all those concerned:

 

Dear Governor Bush,

 

When your Dad, President Bush signed the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary law in 1990 he saved the beautiful Keys waters, coral and fish life for American children of all ages. Your 1974 predecessor also demonstrated his concern by signing the Florida Keys Critical Concern Designation legislation.

 

Now it’s your turn to lead by saving pristine Florida Keys Land from being permanently scarred by high rise condos & resorts. Please immediately advise all State Representatives and Senators to vote NO on HB 1299 & SB 2098 Florida Keys Critical Concern De-Designation legislation proposed by Representative Sorensen and Senator Bennett of Bradenton.

 

It’s reasonable to assume that if Representative Sorensen was not term limited he would not propose this horrendous legislation. A recent poll taken by a nationally recognized polling firm enumerates that 82% of Republican, Democrat and Independent likely voters are STRONGLY OPPOSED to rescinding the vital Florida Keys Critical Concern Designation.

 

If the House & Senate fail to defeat this disgraceful law which is overwhelmingly opposed by Florida Keys Residents then you must exercise your VETO power. Otherwise you will be forever remembered as the Governor who gave the big dollar green light to greedy real estate developers to destroy our beautiful Florida Keys.

 

Two Fort Lauderdale teenagers request that you take their simple two pictures GRANDCHILDREN TEST. One picture is of the Florida Keys in its present state, the other is a picture of South Florida with all its high rise condos and resorts. Then ask your grandchildren which picture represents how the Florida Keys should look for their children and grandchildren. Its safe to assume that most Kids want the Florida Keys to be preserved and free of high rise condos and resorts.

 

Your VETO will complete your Dad’s work while also making the right decision for your fellow Floridians and all Americans since the Florida Keys are a National Treasure.

To say the least we are horrified with your decision to propose legislation to rescind the Florida Keys CRITICAL CONCERN DESIGNATION. You know there is only one answer to the question, why doesn’t the Florida Keys look like the rest of South Florida with its wall to wall high rise condos and resorts? And that answer is emphatically the Florida Keys CRITICAL CONCERN DESIGNATION.
